HAWTHORNE SQUARE

The Hawthorne Square project is the result of over 2 years of collaborative work to create a thoughtful, comprehensive, mixed-use infill redevelopment at the corner of Freistadt Rd and Main St. in Thiensville, WI.

The coordinated area site planning and diversified location of structures and building types are intended to provide an exceptional experience for The Project residents and visitors along with those who currently reside elsewhere within the Village.

The design, construction, planning, delivery, and management have been well thought out and coordinated by our team of subject matter specialists. A safe and efficient system for pedestrian and vehicle traffic, and attractive recreation and open spaces for visitors, residents, customers, and existing Village residents is a priority for this development.

THIENSVILLE, WI

HISTORY OF HAWTHORNE SQUARE

Hawthorne Square has been an integral part of the Thiensville community since Leander Jennings and Phil Jennings bought the land from the Messenger family in 1967.

Originally used as land to train horses, Leander and Phil transformed this plot into a property to be used for some of Thiensville’s first thriving businesses to accommodate the growing population in Thiensville and Mequon. Because Thiensville was mostly residential at that time, this development quickly came to be known as the Town Center. The first tenants in Hawthorne square included Holiday Liquor, Kohl’s, Walgreens, Blue Boy Ice Cream Shop, a hardware store and several other businesses.

As the village progressed into the 90s, the original stores on Hawthorne Square were discontinued, and the Walgreens that still stands today was expanded to occupy the property.
